The dyeing process involves many steps. I dye my fabrics to order so when I receive an order I cut the fabric to proper size and serge the edges.
Fabric is processed at the factory with a finish called sizing that must be removed before dyeing. If this step is omitted it affects the final result. The process is called scouring. The fabric is washed with a soap called synthrapol. Once dry, I normally iron the fabric before proceeding with dyeing.
The dyes must be mixed and chemicals made to assist in the dyeing process. The dye is applied to the fabric and treated with a dye activator and allowed to cure. I use a low water immersion method.
Once the fabric has cured, it is rinsed and washed again with synthrapol. Synthrapol removes excess dye from the fabric. I line dry my fabrics to minimize shrinkage (some does occur).
I then iron fabric again before packaging to be shipped
